Skin peels in London, Bordeaux and Royan

You wish to improve the appearance, complexion and radiance of your skin ? Doctor Guillaume Lemierre, plastic surgeon in Bordeaux, Royan and London, provides you with chemical peels to remedy the situation.

What is chemical peeling ?

Chemical peels are chemical solutions we apply to the skin to improve its look, restore radiance, lessen some spots, tighten the pores, and reduce some small wrinkles.

The active ingredient of face peels will penetrate more or less deeply into the skin depending on the type of product used.

There are three types of chemical peels:

Superficial and medium peels are done at the cabinet and need no anaesthesia. They are not painful.

For all face peels, it is best to prepare your skin, usually for 15 days before the session to ease the penetration of the product and increase the effects.

Dr Lemierre always offers to do LED sessions, Photo-Biostimulation, after face peel sessions in order to enhance the results.

Superficial peels

Superficial peels are the least invasive, they have an effect on the most superficial layers of the skin: the complexion is more uniform, more radiant, skin texture is refined, pores are tightened. It is a new glow!

Every treatment will be adapted to every skin type.

What does a typical session look like?

Beforehand, you need special creams to prepare your skin (they will be prescribed during the consultation with Dr Lemierre). These creams are to be applied morning and night, and are essential in the final result.

Recommendations before the treatments of superficial chemical peels.

Be careful to respect Dr Lemierre’s prescription to optimize the result and truly benefit from the sessions.

If you have a reaction which looks unusually acute during the preparation (redness, too intense burning sensations, etc) do not hesitate to let Dr Lemierre know. He will be able to adjust your treatment.

On chemical peel day

The session lasts about 10 minutes, it is totally painless. It will be followed by 10-minute-LED sessions to reinforce the results.

For superficial chemical peels, the recovery is minimal, but it can vary depending on the patient and skin type. We generally notice a little redness (like a sunburn), the skin will slightly peel for a few days.

It is perfectly allowed to wear make-up.

There is usually no social exclusion.

However, sun exposure is prohibited for the whole treatment, and the use of total sun block (sun care cream high protection) is strongly recommended.

You will be asked to apply a specific cream prescribed by Dr Lemierre, it will be different from those used before the chemical peel. You will have to apply this cream for about a week.

And after the first session?

It is best to do a cycle of 3 to 5 sessions in a row for superficial peels to improve the brightness of the skin and maintain its look.

After, you will be offered check-up appointments every year or every six-months depending on your case.

Medium-deep peels

Medium-deep peels go deeper into the skin, they can lessen small wrinkles, some spots, marks or superficial scars.

With one session and after a month the skin is regenerated, smoothen and freed from imperfections thanks to neocollagen synthesis.

The treatment

It consists in the application of a specific acid on the area to be treated, which will destroy the epidermis leading to the formation of scabs and the healing process will take 7 to 10 days.

Pre-treatment recommendations

Two weeks before the peel session, it may be necessary to put on a specific cream to prepare the skin every day.

Post-treatment recommendations

Any kind of sun exposure is absolutely prohibited for 4 to 6 weeks following the treatment. The use of sun cream is highly recommended during later exposures.

In the following week, it will be necessary to spray thermal water and apply moisturizing and healing creams. Wearing make-up is possible from the 8th day.

What are the results?

Several sessions are often necessary, 3 weeks apart, in order to see the optimal result which will improve session after session. The concentration of the peel product will increase at every session, if possible, depending on the reaction during the previous session.

Every treatment will fit every skin type and patient.

Pre Medium chemical peel recommendations

Be careful to respect Dr Lemierre’s prescription so as to optimize the result and take full advantage of the chemical peel sessions.

If you experience a reaction which looks unusually intense during the preparation (redness, burning sensations too intense, etc), do not hesitate to let Dr Lemierre know, he will be able to adjust your treatment.

On medium chemical peel day

The session lasts about 10 minutes, it is painless, you can experience a slight tingling or intense heat on the areas to be treated.

The following of medium chemical peels consists of redness and scabs, which will heal in 8 days. The skin will peel more than with superficial peels.

You will have to apply a moisturizing and healing cream several times a day during the first week following the peel.

The use of make-up is possible soon, usually from the 5th or 6th day.

The recovery may vary depending on the patient and skin type.

There may be social exclusion for 8 days (during the scab and redness period).

However, sun exposure is absolutely prohibited for a month and a half for the whole duration of the chemical peel and between sessions.

The use of total sun block (Sun Cream High Protection) is strongly recommended during later sun exposures; indeed, it may ruin the result.

And after the first session ?

It is best to do a cycle of 3 sessions in a row for medium-deep peels to optimise and maintain the result, and to really give your skin a new life.

Then, an annual appointment may be offered depending on the case.
