Thigh lifts in London, Bordeaux and Royan

Thigh lifts, also known as a thighplasty, are a corrective or cosmetic surgical procedure that treats the sagging or damaged skin (stretch marks, scars, irregularities caused by clumps of fat) by tightening the skin. A thigh lift tightens saggy skin in the inner thigh region.

A thigh lift can be interesting for you if you have just had a bariatric surgery or a sudden weight loss. Thigh lifts can also be done after a pregnancy or because of aging. By tightening the skin, a thigh lift can correct these imperfections.

Doctor Lemierre has been practicing for over ten years in Bordeaux and Royan and is specialised in silhouette surgeries. During an inner thigh lift, he will remove the excess skin and fat using liposuction. Lipoaspiration is always combined with a thigh lift.

By choosing this procedure, you are giving yourself the opportunity to slim down your silhouette. Your body will look thinner, longer, smoother, and firmer. The goal is to harmonise your silhouette by perfecting your body contour. Thanks to thigh lifts, Doctor Lemierre will help quell your insecurities. You will then feel comfortable in all types of clothing, including under garments and bathing suits.

Summary:

Why choose to have a thigh lift?

Thigh lifts are considered to be a cosmetic or corrective surgery that treats sagging and loose skin.

The skin on your inner thigh is particularly thin and elastic. After a bariatric surgery or a sudden weight loss, excess skin, which is often associated with excess fat, can create aesthetic imperfections, but also the rubbing of the thighs can cause discomfort when walking.

Thanks to an inner thigh lift, Doctor Lemierre eliminates the excess fat with liposuction/lipoaspiration and removes excess skin to tighten, contour, and slim down your thighs.

The incisions are done near the groin and can extend to the crease of the buttocks. 80% of the time a vertical incision in the inner thigh is done to remove the excess skin and reduce the diameter of your thigh. The length and size of the scar depends on the patient, as does the placement which is chosen based on the patient’s morphology. Doctor Lemierre personalises each one of his procedures.

Inner Gap or Thigh Gap, the famous space between your thighs:

More and more women want to reshape their thighs. An inner thigh lift can give you the famous thigh gap. This gap between your thighs will give you a thin, elongated, and sexy silhouette while also removing the possibility of your thighs rubbing together which may cause discomfort.

Doctor Lemierre is specialised in silhouette surgeries and often performs thigh lifts to help his patients obtain the inner gap/thigh gap.

  • Relatively painless post-operation process

The possible inconveniences and risks

  • Infection
  • Necrosis
  • Phlebitis

These complications are rare.

Be aware, it is important to tell the doctor if you are a smoker, as you will have to stop smoking one month before and after the procedure. Tobacco increases the risk of complications associated with general anaesthesia. It can also slow down the healing process.

It is highly recommended that you do not take any medicine containing aspirin 10 to 15 days before the operation.

What does a typical session look like?

A thigh lift can last up to 6 hours and is followed by one night of hospitalisation.

Doctor Lemierre will begin the procedure with liposuction to remove excess skin and tighten the area.

The operation is done under general anesthesia so it is mandatory to have a consultation with an anesthesiologist 48 hours before the thigh lift.

For your comfort, you will have to wear compression stockings or panties after the operation.

Your bandages will have to be changed and replaced by lighter ones the day after your operation.

The scars will be adapted to your specific case, your morphology, and how the excess skin was distributed around your thigh.

An immediate and natural result

After a thigh lift, the results are immediate. However, you will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for the results to stabilise, and 6 months to fully appreciate the final results.

You will look thinner and slimmer, especially if you have chosen to get an inner gap or thigh gap. You will also be able to dress however you want. No more clumps of fat and sagging skin.

Recent technological innovations over the past years have revolutionised thigh lifts to give you more natural results.

To get the most natural result, you can combine a thigh lift with liposuction, a body lift, or an abdominoplasty.

What is the post-procedure process?

In the days following a thigh lift, you may feel some tension in the treatment zone. During these days, it is highly recommended that you avoid all intense movements (stretching, carrying heavy loads, sports, etc.). The tension and discomfort you feel can be treated with over the counter painkillers.

You will be able to resume all physical activities 6 weeks after the procedure and will be able to return to work 3 to 4 weeks after the operation depending on your profession.

Taking care of your scars

For 15 days after the procedure, your scars will not look too bad. It is after this period that your scars will become redder, thicker, and harder. Do not worry, this is a good sign! This ‘inflammatory’ period can last up to 9 months.

To optimise the scarring process and make them nearly invisible, you will have to massage your scars. As of 15 days post-op, you will very delicately apply a scarring cream that the doctor has prescribed for one month. The first massages may be a bit painful, but do not be alarmed. Over time, it will become less and less painful thanks to the reoccurring massages. You should massage the scars one or two times a day for about ten minutes. Many studies show that these massages lessen the effects of the scarring to give you a better aesthetic and cosmetic result post-operation.
