Blepharoplasty in London, Bordeaux and Royan
A blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery technique that diminishes signs of aging around the eye. Doctor Lemierre has been practicing this technique in Bordeaux and Royan for over 10 years making him a blepharoplasty specialist. This procedure will make your gaze sublime. You will no longer look tired or have the appearance of heavy eyelids!
Thanks to a blepharoplasty you will not only look younger, but feel younger as well. You will look more peaceful, radiant, and well-rested. The eyes and the look you give off are very important for both men and women.
Over time, eyelids have a tendency to begin to ‘droop.’ This is caused by excess skin on your upper eyelid, which corresponds to an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, or by excess skin on your lower eyelid, also known as dark eye circles, which corresponds to a lower eyelid blepharoplasty.
Even younger people can look tired if they have excess skin on their upper eyelid or dark eye circles on the lower eyelid with an excess of grease in the area. This can be hereditary. A blepharoplasty will give you a fresh and seamless look.
Doctor Lemierre, who is specialised in blepharoplasties is ready to give you a radiant new gaze that will make you feel younger and more attractive.

Why choose to have a blepharoplasty?
Typically, a blepharoplasty is done when the patient is about 40 years, when the first signs of aging begin to appear. However, this procedure can also be for younger people who are not satisfied with their eyes and gaze. A blepharoplasty can be for men and women.
The upper eyelid blepharoplasty
Over time, grease and excess skin build up on the upper eyelid causing it to become heavy and droop. The palpebral crease becomes hidden and it is more difficult to put make up on.
The upper eyelid is intended to protect the cornea, because when you blink it hydrates your eye. A blepharoplasty is recommended if your eyelid is heavy and uncomfortable. This procedure will end the day-to-day inconveniences you may encounter while giving you a fresh, new gaze.
During the upper eyelid blepharoplasty, Doctor Lemierre will make an incision near the crease of your eyelid to ensure the scar will be invisible.
The lower eyelid blepharoplasty
When dark eye circles, eyelid sagging, and small wrinkles appear around the eye, it can significantly alter your look. A blepharoplasty is the solution to these problems.
Similar to the process of an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, Doctor Lemierre will evaluate your skin’s elasticity around the eye area, the wrinkles around the palpebral and the crow’s feet, the shape of your eye, etc.
After the procedure, your expression will look younger and more radiant. You will no longer appear to be ‘tired,’ ‘sad,’ or ‘stern.’
We only pull back a tiny amount of skin from the inner eyelid to minimise the risk of an ectropion, also known as an eyelid retraction.
We only operate on the ‘real dark circles’ because of the small clumps of grease that bulge out from the upper eyelid.
What are the advantages and inconveniences?
There are many advantages:
First of all, the results are long lasting and durable. After the procedure, your expression will remain bright and fresh for about 10 years. And keep in mind, it is always possible to have another procedure down the line. The complications that may occur are very rare, but in any case Doctor Lemierre is able to fix them right away. Doctor Lemierre is not only specialised in facial surgeries, but especially in blepharoplasties, meaning he will be ready and able to meet all your needs and desires. It goes without saying that big, expressive eyes are an asset while sagging eyes will make you appear older.
Another important advantage that has been researched and documented is that a blepharoplasty will not change your personality or expression, you will still be the same you.
The possible inconveniences/risk:
Just like with any other surgical procedure certain inconveniences or risks can occur:
- Edema or swelling that lasts 15 days
- Conjunctivitis
- Ectropion: lower eyelid retraction
- Bruising
- Discolouration of the scar
- Persistent tearing of the eyes or dry eyes
These inconveniences are rare and Doctor Lemierre will be with you every step of the way, from start to finish. Every patient is different and Doctor Lemierre is there to provide each patient with a personalised treatment plan. Caring, experienced, and professional, Doctor Lemierre is surrounded by a well-trained team that is ready and able to answer all of your questions.
What does a typical session look like?
As soon as the first consultation session, Doctor Lemierre will listen to your needs and desires. He will also provide you with his own recommendations based off of what you have told him. He will provide you with a preliminary plan of action to eliminate coagulation, a complication which is capable of countering the blepharoplasty.
It is strongly suggested that you do not smoke tobacco for six weeks before and after the procedure. Tobacco can increase the time it will take for the scars to heal.
It is also important that you do not take aspirin or any medicine containing aspirin in the ten days pre-operation.
The procedure will last between 20 minutes and 1 hour for the upper eyelid and about 2 hours for the 4 eyelids (2 upper and 2 lower). The incisions will be made in the natural creases of your eyelids.
The incision in the upper eyelid is done in the furrow situated in the middle, between the fixed and the moving part of your eyelids.
The incisions for the lower eyelid procedure are placed 1 to 2 mm underneath the eyelashes. If your under eye circles are isolated, Doctor Lemierre will be able to perform another technique using trans-conjunctival injections. In this case the incisions are made on the inside of the eyelid so there will be no visible scarring.
The stitches are done with very thin thread. They will be removed several days after the operation because they are not absorbable.
You can optimise the results of your blepharoplasty with a cervico-facial lifting and/or a micro lipo-structure, especially to fix wrinkles around the eye.
Effective and long lasting results
You can begin to see the results of the blepharoplasty 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure. Once the tissues are supple again and the scars will have disappeared, you will rediscover your eyes and look. The bruises and swelling will last 4 to 6 weeks.
You will be ready to discover your new fresh, well-rested, and younger looking eyes! Without any folds, wrinkles, or sagging. The final results will reveal themselves around 3 to 6 months after the procedure.
A blepharoplasty will make you look several years younger. If you want this effect to last, it is recommended that you stop smoking, maintain a healthy lifestyle, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and eventually, you can combine this procedure with botulonic toxin injections to treat crow’s feet. These are all the services we can provide with botox injections.
The final results of a blepharoplasty are among some of the most durable in cosmetic medicine. One blepharoplasty lasts many years. This really gives you the opportunity to enjoy your new assets for a while!
What does the post-operation process look like?
For the first 24 hours after the operation, you will feel slightly uncomfortable because of a slight tension around the eyelids. However, this will not be very painful. Doctor Lemierre recommends that you rest for the first several hours after the operation.
Enema (swelling) and bruising will disappear about one week after the procedure for just the lower eyelids. For a procedure which treated the lower eyelids or the 4 eyelids, it can last about 15 days.
The stitches will be removed between 4 and 6 days after the procedure.
The scars will remain a bit pink during the first several weeks.
It is recommended that you rest and put your social life on hold for 4 to 15 days after the operation whether it is just for the upper eyelid, just the lower eyelid, or all 4.
You can begin to wear make-up again 7 days after the procedure.
It is crucial that you protect your eyes from the sun and wear sun glasses for 4 to 6 weeks after the operation.
